Tracy McGrady's back and hip are always a concern. His contract ends after two more seasons ( this upcoming season and the next ), and it's unlikely the Rockets will bring him back prior to the 2010-2011 NBA season.
But it just so happens that's the summer called "the best free agent class in NBA history" ( summer of 2010 ) in which several NBA superstars are free agents, such as LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki and Tracy McGrady to name a few.
The Rockets can practically sign another NBA superstar at that time, essentially replacing Tracy McGrady's max-money contract.
But that's two years from now...
In the mean time, the Rockets should have an NBA Title contender during the next two seasons, assuming they can stay healthy. Getting past the first round of the NBA Playoffs is their biggest obstacle. They have to show they can do that, first and foremost.

With a trio of Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest, they should do big things this season. They must stay healthy though. I also like the addition of Brent Barry, aging or not, he's still a prolific three-point shooter. And Shane Battier and Luis Scola are two of the hardest working players in the entire NBA.
The Rockets won 22 games in a row last year, which was the second longest winning streak in NBA history, and they did most of it without Yao Ming, They didn't even have their best player!
Now you add a healthy Yao Ming back to the team, Ron Artest and Brent Barry. All of a sudden the Rockets ( at least on paper ) are now looking like the best team in the NBA entering this upcoming season.
I don't have a second favorite team in the NBA either, although I did cheer for the Spurs a few teams, during their past NBA Finals against the Pistons, Cavaliers, Nets and Knicks.
If it comes down to it, I'd rather see another Texas team having success, even if it isn't Houston.
But ironically, I don't like Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks that much. I actually cheered for the Miami Heat when they played the Mavericks in the NBA Finals a couple of years ago.
I like the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Stars, but I draw the line when it comes to the Dallas Mavericks, LOL.
The Mavericks and Jazz are the two NBA teams I hate the most, but I'd imagine most fans of the Rockets feel that way.

I have no doubts that Tony Romo will have a big season, but keep in mind the Cowboys are sort of thin at wide receiver ( depth wise ), and they're always a Terrell Owens injury away from completely falling apart.
Let's hope Tony Romo doesn't get distracted with off-the-field behavior that his highly talked about, regarding his relationship with Jessica Simpson. The last thing I want to hear is how he went to Mexico on a vacation with the Simpson family during the same week of a huge playoff game!
Of course, this is a team that hasn't won a playoff game since 1996 and all that's going to matter is whether or not they can get over that decade-long playoff drought.
So we can't get any real answers until January.
The Dallas Cowboys are sort of like the Houston Rockets right now. Both teams are loaded with talent and primed for a championship run this upcoming season, but neither team has won a playoff game or playoff series in over a decade - 1996 for the Dallas Cowboys and 1997 for the Houston Rockets.
Ironically, both teams last won a championship - Super Bowl and NBA Finals in 1995 ( another thing in common ), so perhaps there's something to that. Maybe both teams can become the 2008 Champions in both the NFL and NBA.
I wouldn't be surprised if that happens...
I mean really, both teams have All-Star caliber rosters. It's just a matter of staying healthy, hungry and motivated.
I have my fingers crossed the Houston Texans can go at least 9-7 this season, which would be their first winning season ever. They did go 8-8 last year, which was their first non-losing season but it wasn't quite a winning season.
But I do expect championships from both the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Rockets during the upcoming NFL and NBA season.

And then when the Houston Texans entered the NFL as an expansion team in 2002, naturally they became my favorite team. But after investing four years into every Dallas Cowboys game ( five seasons total ), they still remained my second favorite team in the NFL.
When the Texans play the Cowboys, I cheer for the Texans to win but I'm not overly disappointed if the Cowboys win.
My dream one day would be to see an all-Texas Super Bowl between the Texans and Cowboys. The Cowboys have a super bowl caliber team right now ( talent wise ), but the Texans still have a lot of work to do. My guess is the Texans are still two or three years away from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender in a tough AFC conference.

I'm a Houston Texans fan, but I also like the Dallas Cowboys as my second favorite team in the NFL.
I can't wait for this Sunday, which is the first Sunday of the 2008 NFL season. The Texans play the Steelers and the Cowboys play the Browns. I hope both teams win, of course.
